Xbox One still on track to crush PS4 despite initial PR disaster
It’s amazing what a well-timed mea culpa can do. VG24/7 points us to a new research note from Baird analyst Colin Sebastian, who says that Microsoft is in a very good position to win the next-generation console wars despite its early public relations gaffes.
In particular, Sebastian says that Microsoft’s decision to backtrack on its controversial used game and online connectivity policies for the Xbox One has helped it regain “some momentum” that it lost at the E3 gaming conference. Sebastian also says that his “supply chain checks suggest Microsoft may have the benefit of a 2-3x unit advantage at launch compared to Sony’s PS4.” Microsoft will start selling the Xbox One this November for $499.99.

In Response: I think Microsoft could have avoided the whole pr mess if they simply did not try to nickle and dime its loyal customers! It’s really that simple. I think the PS4 will win the console battle just because of the price! If Xbox keeps its price at $499+, I don’t see how they can keep it up with the PlayStation’s base price at $399 after the hardcore gamers have bought their next gen system! In a tough global economy, the price is going to win the day! Anyway, who do you think has the edge right now?
